Over the course of the Autumn term, Years 4, 5 & 6 have participated in several football events and competitions. Thanks to the running of our after school football clubs led by our brilliant sports coach Mr Stubbs, pupils have been able to develop their skills and learn how to work as a team. Well done to everyone who took part this term!
Year 5&6 have really enjoyed their after school Tag Rugby sessions with Mr Speke this term! Pupils participated in a Tag Rugby Festival at Birkenhead Rugby Club against several other schools. We had lots of fun and received a trophy for our brilliant teamwork! Recently pupils have been enduring the colder weather and have been playing some matches against each other.
Pupils in years 4, 5 & 6 have participated in three cross country events this term. The first race was at Arrowe Park and it is safe to say that we all got absolutely drenched thanks to the rainy weather! However, despite the rain, we had so many participants show up and put in a brilliant effort! The other two races at Birkenhead and Bebington Park were excellent opportunities for our cross country runners to stretch their legs again and beat their personal best. Well done everyone, there will be more cross country opportunities in the Spring Term.
Mini Mermaids Running Club
Girls from Y5&6 have absolutely loved their sessions with Corrie from Full Of Beans this term. They have had the opportunity to not only build upon their fitness but learn vital teamwork and leadership skills! Their confidence after supporting a Year 2 PE lesson was soaring and they are now ready to take part in their 5K challenge on Monday 26th November.
Irish Dance Club
Year 2 & 3 pupils have been dancing their Sacred Heart socks off with Miss O'Donnell during their Irish dancing after school club. Each week, Miss O'Donnell chooses a dancer of the week who has shown fantastic enthusiasm and determination. All of Sacred Heart are really looking forward to the 'wee' Irish Dancing Christmas Extravaganza Performance on 18th December!
Mini Mermaids 5K Challenge
This Monday, girls from Years 5&6 completed their 5K challenge, running a grand total of 17 laps around the school field! The girls showed great enthusiasm, determination and support for one another. Thank you to Corrie and Nicky from Full of Beans for motivating and encouraging our girls and thank you also to our parents who came to watch and show support - we even had some siblings joining in with the challenge! The Mini Mermaids programme has been so worthwhile and we can't wait to roll it out to our Year 3&4 girls in the Spring Term. Congratulations again everyone, you were amazing!
Y3&4 Trampolining Festival at St Joseph's Wallasey
Pupils from Years 3 & 4 took part in a brilliant trampolining event at St Joseph's Primary in Wallasey as part of our faith schools cluster tournament. Back in October, Y 5&6 won the trophy by taking part in a football tournament. We kindly handed over the trophy yesterday to the winning school - St Joseph's! Pupils had an absolute blast at the festival, made some new friends and learnt some new skills. It was a fantastic event to be part of and we loved every second of it!
Irish Dance Club Christmas Performance
Pupils in Y2&3 had so much fun performing their Irish Dance routines for their parents back in December of last year. Pupils were spectacularly dressed and performed brilliantly - even some of our parents got up to show off some of their moves! A huge thank you to Miss O'Donnell who put on a fabulous show using her own expertise of Irish dancing. And most of all, a huge congratulations to the wee performers for participating in such an excellent event!
Indoor Athletics Festival for Year 1 & 2
Sacred Heart pupils from years 1&2 along with pupils from St Joseph's and St Alban's Primary School had the most fantastic afternoon this Monday at our indoor athletics festival. It was year 1&2's opportunity to represent our school in our Wallasey Faith Cluster Tournament and win back the tropy Y5&6 won back in October! During the afternoon, pupils took part in many activities such as speed bouncing, relay racing, jumping and throwing. Although we were brilliant and showed some great skill, it was St Alban's who claimed the tropy this time! Well done to all who took part and a big thank you to Mr McGovern from St Joseph's who organised and led the event.
Gymnastics Development Competition for Years 3&4
We really do have some amazing gymnasts in our school and it was their time to shine at the Wirral School Games event at Wirral Gymnastics Club yesterday afternoon. Pupils competed in three activities; vault, floor and body management. As a team, we came 4th out of 14 schools - an incredible achievement! Well done everyone.
